Texas Snowpocalypse 2021

Texas Snowpocalypse 2021

If you’re reading this you hopefully have internet access. Snow hit Texas harder than Nolan Ryan hit Robbie Ventura in the Rangers vs White Sox game of ‘93.

Millions are without power and water. Traveling is hazardous and people are worried. There’s a lot of talk of who’s to blame but rather than join the conversation we’ll say this.

As sportsmen and sportswomen it’s likely you have spent freezing mornings trout fishing or duck hunting. You’ve cooked breakfast on propane stoves. Helped get trucks unstuck. Kept warm snow camping and are familiar with using emergency equipment. You’ve boiled coffee over a campfire. Hauled water to remote places, made grilled cheese on the hood of your vehicle, etc.

Use these skills to help your neighbors. Check-in on the elderly couple down the street or the young family with little ones who are low on food. Dig in the back of your freezer and share some of that Axis meat you’ve been saving for a rainy (or snowy) day. Better yet, cook some South Texas Hog Chili for the neighborhood and make old WoodTip proud.

Most of all, take care of each other. This is a hard time and people need help. Be safe and be smart. It’ll all be over soon.
